Chapter 2: Himanshi

The entire college had gathered in the garden area, eager to witness the spectacle unfolding before them. At the center of it all, Ronnie—the notorious college bully—was down on one knee.

To propose? To me? Not happening.

I took slow, hesitant steps forward, my mind racing. And then there was him—Maanvir. Always hovering around me like a leech. Was he angry? Jealous? Did he actually care? Not in my wildest dreams was this happening.

"Himanshi, will you be my girlfriend?" Ronnie asked, his voice brimming with confidence, as if my answer was a mere formality.

"Ronnie, I-I can't—"

"You know, Hima, I’ll keep you happy," he interrupted, his smirk unwavering.

Before I could even react, a sharp voice cut through the air.

"Her name is Himanshi."

Maanvir gritted his teeth, his jaw tight, his eyes burning with something I couldn’t quite decipher.

"I know, stop trying to invade our privacy. This is between me and Hima," Ronnie said, annoyance clear in his voice.

Maanvir let out a sharp breath, his patience clearly wearing thin. "First of all, her name is Himanshi. Second, if this were private, you wouldn’t have staged it in the middle of the college garden. And third—"

He paused, as if choosing his next words carefully, but before he could continue, I cut in.

"Yes, Ronnie. I will be your girlfriend."

The words tumbled out, hesitant and uncertain. Even I didn’t understand why I said it.

Maanvir's eyes darkened, his jaw tightening as he shot me a look that burned with jealousy, frustration… maybe even something else. Without another word, he turned on his heel and walked away, his posture stiff with anger.

As for Ronnie? He was practically bouncing, his grin stretching from ear to ear, looking like he had just won the lottery.

And me? I knew I was in huge trouble.

I just agreed to date the college bully.

Please, God, be with me.
